I have seen some amazing videos and photos of kids who have gone fishing but having a 3-year old daughter myself, I can’t help but wonder what really happens behind the scenes. Do they really have the patience to wait for just even 10 minutes? There’s only way to find out.
Accidental K-Mart Find
I found this Jarvis Walker Pond Skater Junior Spincast Combo at K-Mart. It wasn’t just the smallest fishing rod I have seen, it was the cutest thing ever. So I bought it, brought it home and my daughter just fell in love with it. She has already seen me fishing so she knows what a fishing rod is.

Made For Kids
This fishing rod isn’t just small, it has this cleverly-designed, innovative reel mechanism that makes it much easier to cast, and will give you a much lesser chance of tangling the line. I won’t go into the details because I’m not technical, plus it takes 2 minutes to figure out so I’ll leave it to you.
Moment of Truth
Now that the kid is excited to try her fishing rod, it’s time to head off and see if I can capture one of those Instagram-worthy moments. Unfortunately, we did not catch anything. What I have learned though is that she has more patience than I expected, which makes me want to go back and give it another try. Well, at least once this pandemic restrictions are lifted.
Here are some photos of our mini-fishing trip. Though we caught nothing this time around, we surely had a great time.

So the next time you plan on having a picnic somewhere by a pond, have a Jarvis Walker Pond Skater ready for your kid. And don’t forget to check the Park’s restrictions before you cast your lines.
